You will notice that your student's workbook looks nothing like a traditional math textbook! That's because this generation of learners are not excelling academically using traditional methods of teaching math.
Students will be discovering math using hands-on activities in class each day. Here is an example of the type of lessons we have each day. Lesson 1: Checkerboard Tiles.
WHAT TO DO WHEN:
THE NIGHT OF CLASS. It is critical that students review these concepts in their math journals (Lesson Summary and EQ/I can statements) and complete the Ready, Set, Go problems the same night as class. Need help? Refer to the videos in Canvas.
THE NEXT NIGHT, students should review previous lessons for 10-15 minutes and be able to share their learning with someone. Students should also begin viewing the general background information videos provided online. These videos are layering a foundation for content that students will be covering in class, so it is to their advantage to have this information before lessons are presented.
